Congratulations – you are engaged! The excitement is overwhelming, and you are eager to start planning for your Special day. To saved money on your wedding budget and are going to plan your own wedding – how hard can it be, right? You start gathering information and thinking…. this isn’t so bad…. I can do it. The plans are coming along, and it is getting closer to the wedding day. The stress starts to build, and you and your mother are feeling like the day will never come. Contracts have been signed and the fees are nonrefundable. You start to see that the budget is now out of control. You have spent more than you planned, but there is no turning back now. The BIG day is finally here. Your stress level is off the charts and so is your mother’s. You don’t see any way that either of you will be able to enjoy the wedding and reception, because you are still busy organizing and making sure the caterer, DJ, and photographer are accounted for and that the decorations are in place. You suddenly realize that there is no one to direct the wedding party, and there is no one designated to escort guests to their seats……the wedding is about to begin. You and your mother both feel like a bug on a windshield . . . Totally squashed from the stress.
Or would you like to have this scenario?
Yeah, you are engaged. The excitement is overwhelming, and you are eager to start planning for the BIG day. You and your mother discuss the option of hiring a wedding planner and sit down to include the option in your wedding budget. You hire a wedding planner, and she has gone to all of your appointments with you. She has a host of information that is helpful, and she has referred you to several vendors that she knows will fit your budget and vision. You feel confident that your wedding day will be the “perfect day” that you have dreamed about since you were a little girl. She was with you when you met with all the vendors and you are pleasantly surprised at the way she negotiated to get the best deal, that included savings for your budget, as well as things that you would not have thought of. As the wedding gets closer, you find that you and your consultant are right on schedule and you realize that you are under budget, even with the fact that you hired a wedding planner…..you are now ready to walk down the aisle and you and your mother give each other a big hug and smile at each other, knowing that you have your friend and consultant looking after all the details so you can enjoy your wedding day stress free. A little nervous may, but totally and peace.
